[Nigeria, Wurno, Takai, and Dambatta, Hausa and Fulani] [sound recording] / collected by John Edward Philips.

Recordings consist of interviews with and several musical performances by Hausa and Fulani informants. Interview topics include the political and military histories of Wurno, Takai, and Dambatta, the structure of each towns' governmental offices, and the backgrounds of various traditional occupations such as leathermaking, dyeing, and blacksmithing as it exists in each town. Many of the people interviewed are important government officials. Musical performances consist of praise poetry and epithets accompanied by drumming and sung in praise of various rulers and members of the royal court.
